Menagerie

I went to visit my folks today, and as usual was greeted enthusiastically by The Snoot:

And while I'm at it, let's define a term I've used here and there.

This is a Muffin Cat:

Ă…ren't they cute?

An Idiot Dog?

Officially she is a rather expensive English Field Springer. She comes from a very distinguished line of fine-boned, leggy spaniels, a family line of which my father is particularly fond.

He's had 3 other Spaniels from the same line who were brilliant hunters *and* wonderful companions - the last one before this was a spectacular and strong character of rather frighteningly high intellect. The family adored Maggie unstintingly, and her death (cancer) was a great sorrow to us all.

This one, Kerry... well, she has a very weird combination of unbelievable idiocy and moments of brilliance that lead us to think that she's some sort of brain-damaged social genius (I don't know that she's very smart per se, but she's got a great deal of Cunning when it comes to getting what she wants).

Brain-power not withstanding, Kerry is a total Clown, very jolly and funny and affectionate and a total goober. As you can see! :D

It never ceases to amaze me the different personalities that pets have. The cats are all very different and it just cements the bond we have with them even more.

I love the idea of the kitty muffin. I like the way that she is all curled up.

Wouldn't she be forced to look inwards, and thus see MORE evil??
